One of my favourite things about the ROM is that you can travel around the world in one day.
Last week, the ROM took us to the wonderful Ancient Civilization of Egypt. To the very observant readers of this blog, I’m sure you would have been able to predict where we’re going this Saturday! On Saturday June 8th… *drumroll* we are going to Japan!
Many are familiar with Japan’s popular dish sushi (personally, I’m a huge fan) but Japan is also famous for the art of the warrior.
This weekend we have a special guest who is an expert on samurais (George Hewson, ROM Educator), and you will be able to ask him all the questions you have ever had about samurais. I’m pretty sure he’ll teach you some interesting facts that you’ve never thought about either.
We have a few fun activities planned (check out the samurai helmet above!). With much planning, photocopying, tracing cutting, crumpling and repeating (I’m sorry trees… but thank goodness for recycling) we have planned an excellent craft for kids who would like to be a samurai apprentice.
Come out this weekend and learn something new! Matane!
